Backup Your Photos!!!! Part 1 - Your Phone

Missoula Family Photographer Backup Your Photos

Today I want to talk about backing up your photos. Do you do it? You should, photos are once in a lifetime snapshots that are invaluable. It’s worth spending a bit of time to make sure you have copies of these memories and most of the time it’s very easy!

In part one let's start with the camera you have with you most of the day, yep your phone. For most folks, this is the camera they use for 99% of the photos they take. However, a lot of people don’t think about backing it up. Which is crazy, because how many of us have lost their phones? I know I have. Yes I know you posted that pic with you and your homies on Instagram, but have you ever tried to download those photos later? The quality is almost unusable. You need to have a copy of the original, not rely on Instagram. Also remember, you can be banned from Instagram. If that happens, well your backup just disappeared likely without warning

So how do you backup your photos, there are lots of ways however my all time favorite is Google Photos.

Google Photos

It's unbelievably simple to setup this app to backup your photos. First, download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Once the app is on your phone, open the app and it will ask you to login and if you want to backup your photos. It's that easy, the app has a ton of other features but this is by far the best one. Just remember to login to and make sure your photos are being backed up. Never assume they are, make sure they are!

Works on Android and Apple Phones:
Amazing App for Sharing

Non-Compressed Images take your Google Drive Space
Apple Users need to Open the app to run the backup.
Needs a Google Account

With all of these tips, the key to a good backup plan is make sure you have multiple copies of your photos in multiple locations. One place is never safe, even with if that place is Google.
